This bar occupies two spots across the aisle in the vegetable part of the market and its main advantage is that it can count with the street as its terrace. The well-dressed cooks attract the passing visitors by huge pans with paellas and displayed fresh seafood. The range includes as always fried fish and seafood, grilled fish and seafood, prawn skewers but also gratinated clams and paella. The choice of wines is relatively narrow but good. Go for the “tapa” size of the dishes and try more of them.

A warning!

DO NOT EAT AT BAR MERCADO CENTRAL N1 MALAGA.

They fraudulently rip off customers with no menu and false advice. They then charge extortionate prices and intimidate customers.

THEY CHARGE HUNDREDS OF EUROS FOR BASIC SEA FOOD!!

If you have been a victim of these thieves..COMPLAIN!!

There are consumer associations such as OCU or FACUA but both advise you complete a formal claim, procedure. This can be done online using a doc. ‘Hoja de Reclamaciones’. You can do this directly at the business and they should also complete their part of the doc. …but you may not want to do this as they intimidate and may make matters ‘difficult.’ If you have to it is recommended you call the police.

Use the website to request the Hoja de Reclamaciones doc. …or if in Malaga, you can get one from the Tourist Information Office located centrally.

WARN OTHERS ABOUT THIS RIP OFF JOINT. (Have visited plenty of markets in Spain and commonly good well priced eats…but this place is robbing people in plain sight!!).

(I am not sure…as didn’t eat there, but based on reviews, I think the one next door may also be in on game).

This bar is a scam. I would advise you for not visit. Waiters steer you to extortionately priced dishes if asked for advice. There is no clear complaints procedure.

Bar Central N1 is DAMAGING TOURISM AND THE REPUTATION OF MALAGA.

I hope others are warned, and do not go here to be ‘robbed’ by is unscrupulous and dishonest business.

Este bar es una estafa. Te aconsejo que no lo visites. Los camareros le aconsejan platos a precios exorbitantes si le piden consejo. No existe un procedimiento de quejas claro.

Bar Central N1 está DAÑANDO EL TURISMO Y LA REPUTACIÓN DE MÁLAGA.

Espero que los demás estén avisados, y que no vayan aquí a que les ‘roben’ estos negocios sin escrúpulos y deshonestos.

BEWARE!!! THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL RIP OFF. FAR TOO EXPENSIVE!!! JUST DO NOT GO HERE. IF YOU DO…THEN DO NOT TAKE ADVICE FROM WAITERS. THEY STEER YOU TO VERY VERY EXPENSIVE DISHES. LOOK AT RATING. 2 6 AT TIME OF WRITING. SHOULD BE LESS. I INTEND COMPLAINING TO TOURIST AUTHORITY. THIS PLACE IS DAMAGING MALAGA!!!!!
