There cannot be a sharper clash of worlds as between the hyped Ruina and the opposite old school no fuss stall of the El Moreno. While there is certainly a high street design studio behind the look of the El Ruina stall, the top-board of El Moreno has been scribbled with a cheap marker 20 years ago and has slowly vanished into medium invisible work of art. There is nothing fancy about the stall of El Moreno and nothing fancy about himself. He looks like like a tough experienced sailor from old times. Usually, there are 3 to 4 kinds of fish, always anchovies, sometimes mackerels, hakes and “jureles”. It might not be fair to El Ruina who put so much effort into refurbishing his stall but I still prefer the old school El Moreno.
